Hollyoaks’ Adam Woodward is hoping for "quiet" Christmas because he needs a break from his character’s "drama".
The star’s latest big storyline has seen his character Brody Hudson sleep with his girlfriend Sienna Blake’s (Anna Passey) sister Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart), who is now pregnant, in order to pretend to Sienna that Liberty is carrying their baby as a surrogate.
Brody was initially against the idea because he saw it as cheating on Sienna, but Liberty convinced him it would be for the best for her sister after Sienna’s final embryo wasn’t viable.
Asked if his Christmas will be more chilled out than his alter-ego’s, Adam replied: "I hope so.
"If it’s not then something has gone very wrong.
"I haven’t got much planned. I’m just hoping for a quiet Christmas with my family.
"I need a break from Brody’s drama."
And it looks like being a tough Christmas Day for the trio.
Asked what the big day has in store for his, Anna’s and Jessamy’s characters, he added to Inside Soap magazine: "It’s a weird one, because there’s so much going on under the surface.
"So many secrets and lies. Yet on the outside, it all seems fine."
But Adam has had a fantastic year, winning Best Actor and Best Male Dramatic Performance at the Inside Soap Awards and British Soap Awards respectively.
However, it wasn’t all positive as the star’s girlfriend Sophie Porley – who played Ellie Nightingale on ‘Hollyoaks’ – had to call an ambulance for him earlier this month when he collapsed at his home because he was in so much pain from a fall.
Adam tweeted afterwards: "I fell over yesterday and banged myself up worse than I thought.
"This morning I woke up with so much back pain that when I tried to stand I collapsed and passed out. I was stuck on the floor when I came round unable to move.
"@SophiePorley called an ambulance for me. After a little while they came and helped me get to my feet with pain killers, gas and air and a helping hand.
"Despite still being banged up I am forever grateful for our NHS and the fantastic work they do. (sic)"
