Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas has never been happier

Adam Thomas has never been happier.

The 26-year-old actor – who plays Adam Barton on ‘Emmerdale’ – has had the best year of his life as he awaits the birth of his first child with his long-term girlfriend Caroline Davy.

He told The Sun: "This has been my best year ever — at work and outside of work — and I can’t wait for what happens next.

"Life’s honestly the best it’s ever been. Everything I’m doing is really exciting — I feel very lucky."

The former ‘Waterloo Road’ actor – who has starred on the ITV soap since 2009 – admitted his personal life is a world away from that of his troubled character.

A recent explosive storyline saw the young farmer confront his uncle, James Barton (Bill Ward) with a shotgun after it was revealed he was actually his father

Adam said: "Family is everything to me so I can completely see where Adam is coming from. He’s a real family man but he’s so lost at the moment. He’s in turmoil.

"Everything he thought he knew, everything he thought was real has been taken away from him. It seems like his whole life has been a lie.

"The man he’s grown up with isn’t his dad at all and he’s pretty angry about that, as anyone would be."

Meanwhile, Adam – whose first child is due this autumn – says he and his dance teacher partner are in no rush to get married.

He said: "Not yet. We’re very happy but I think we’ve got enough on our plates at the minute.

"I’m sure we will one day but for now it’s one step at a time."
