Prince Harry to watch World Cup in Brazil

Britain’s Prince Harry is going to watch Brazil play Cameroon in the World Cup.

The soccer-mad royal has timed his royal tour of South America to coincide with the international sporting event perfectly, and will also be supporting England when they play their final game against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte tomorrow (24.06.14).

Harry will no doubt be able to forget his sorrows at his national team being kicked out of the World Cup thanks to an action-packed week of activities.

Edward Lane Fox, the 29-year-old redhead’s private secretary, said: "Prince Harry is visiting both countries on behalf of the British government to help support UK interests in the region and also in support of his own charitable interests which include disadvantaged children, promotion of sustainable conservation and support to the armed forces.

"The itinerary is tailored to Prince Harry’s interests and, as you may expect, will contain both a mixture of formal and informal.

"When the eyes of the world are on Brazil and the wider South American continent during the World Cup, the timing of Prince Harry’s visit will allow these countries to showcase their positive social support programmes."

Highlights of his royal tour in Brazil include visiting an infamous Sao Paulo drug district to learn about a rehabilitation project, embarking upon a canoe ride with patients with neurological problems, visiting the Ayrton Senna institute in Sao Paulo and touring the training base that Britain’s athletes will use during the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Harry will then move on to Chile, where he is due to meet with President Michelle Bachelet, learn about volunteer firefighters in Valparaiso and visit children with mental and physical disabilities at a day centre, among many other engagements
