Jack Coleman to star in Heroes Reborn

‘Heroes’ star Jack Coleman is to reprise his role in ‘Heroes Reborn’.

The 56-year-old actor, who played Noah Bennett in the original US series, is the first cast member to sign up for NBC’s upcoming reboot of the popular sci-fi drama, reports Deadline.

Coleman’s character quickly became a fan favourite – dubbed HRG, or the Man in the Horn-Rimmed Glasses, by viewers – when ‘Heroes’ premiered in 2006 and remained on the show until its cancellation in 2010.

The ominous HRG was the father of Hayden Panettiere’s character, indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennett, and worked for a mysterious organisation – the Company – that tracked down people with superpowers.

‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring is back to write the miniseries and will follow a format similar to the first season of the original series, in which ordinary people woke up to find they had extraordinary abilities.

The new series will concentrate on fresh characters, but NBC boss Bob Greenblatt previously hinted "some of the familiar faces [from ‘Heroes’] are bound to drop in".

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of ‘Heroes Reborn’ and hopes it will be as successful as the original, which began with high ratings and critical acclaim but was eventually cancelled after four seasons when ratings sharply declined.

‘Heroes’ featured a large cast including Hayden, ‘Star Trek’ actor Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimiglia, Ali Larter and Masi Oka.
