Jake Bugg isn’t bothered by fans being on their phones at his shows

Jake Bugg doesn’t care if fans are glued to their phones at his gigs.

The 30-year-old singer has revealed that he is happy for those in attendance to film his performance on their phone despite other artists complaining about the issue.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Jake said: “I don’t mind phones at concerts. If people want to film and look back on it, that’s OK.”

However, the artist – who released his latest album ‘A Modern Day Distraction’ last month – isn’t so keen on fans chucking beer in his direction.

Bugg explained: “I’ve had people throwing things. Sometimes it’s a nice letter, sometimes it’s beer. You just don’t know what you’re going to get.”

Meanwhile, Jake is good friends with Beastie Boys star Mike D and explained that he opens up to his pal in times of uncertainty.

The ‘Lightning Bolt’ singer said: “I’ve known Mike for a long time. If I have doubts, he’ll have some sort of story that helps me.”

Jake previously revealed how he gained new fans after his 2012 song ‘Trouble Town’ was the theme tune to the popular BBC drama ‘Happy Valley’ – even though he had never seen the TV series himself.

He told Absolute Radio: “Yeah, you want it to be a thing that reflects well on the music and it has to kind of have some connection but people tell me that it works and it’s hard, I think the writer, because you’re always thinking like it always seems detached no matter how well it works. But I’ve heard the show is great.”

When asked if he’s seen the programme, Jake admitted: “No, I’ve not seen it, but I’ve heard It’s brilliant. And I should, to be honest. Now, if the song’s on it.”
