Morrissey’s concert in Dallas cut short after stage invasion by fans

Morrissey’s Dallas concert had to be cut short after fans invaded the stage.

The former Smiths frontman was giving an encore performance of ‘First of the Gang to Die’ at the Music Hall at Fair Park show on Saturday (02.11.24) when the stage was invaded by fans attempting to get close to him – a regular occurrence at his gigs.

Two audience members managed to hug and shake hands with Morrissey but the stage was soon overrun by more fans – leaving security desperately trying to clear the stage as the ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’ artist was jostled between spectators and venue personnel.

Morrissey, 65, was eventually ushered off the stage and one security guard was seen limping with a leg injury as he attempted to remove a fan. The sudden end to the concert was booed by the spectators as proceedings came to a close a song or two earlier than scheduled.

George Allen, the host of a Morrissey podcast, told the Manchester Evening News of the incident: “Stage invasions are very common at Morrissey gigs but this one looked particularly messy.

“It’s not clear if it was Morrissey’s choice to leave the stage or if he was directed by the crew but the fans did seem to go a bit far.

“Getting on stage for a handshake and a hug is fine but considering one of the crew was injured this felt like too much. Some fans have described it as disrespectful.”

The ‘Suedehead’ singer is yet to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, Morrissey recently claimed that his former Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr “ignored” a “lucrative” offer for the ‘This Charming Man’ band to reform in 2025 – after siblings Noel and Liam Gallagher put their differences aside to reunite fellow Manchester music legends Oasis.

He wrote on his website: “In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as ‘The Smiths’ throughout 2025.

“Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer. Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November. Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.”
