No reality TV for Stacey Jackson

Stacey Jackson’s family have never wanted her to do reality TV.

The ‘Live It Up’ singer has penned a novel, ‘How A Gangsta Rapper Made Me A Better Mom’, which is loosely based on her own life, and she did so in order to share her story in a way that her husband and four children were comfortable with.

Asked why she decided to write a book, she told BANG Showbiz: “Loads of producers over the years have asked me to be on various reality TV shows.

“I supposed my story resonated with many people.

“But that was a hard ‘No’ for my husband and young kids at the time.

“Someone suggested I just write the book — so, as a ‘do-er’ kinda person — I wrote the book!”

After years of working in music, Stacey advised any aspiring musicians to “know the business” and be in a position to ask questions about things they are unsure of.

Asked her advice for aspiring musicians, she replied: “Know the business!

Learn the ins and outs of the industry. It’s not just being an artist these days… you have to have some business acumen and feel when things are ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ in your gut.

“So when things are not going according to plan, you can ask questions and pivot if necessary.”

Stacey has recently recorded an acoustic version of her single ‘Soldier’ and thinks it is a better way to drive home the message of the record.

She said: “I think the message of the record becomes even clearer when the track is stripped back.

“Plus, as a creative, I love being able to take a solid melody (and good lyrics) into another space.

“It opens up a lot more doors, and other audiences may gravitate to your work.”
