Fiona Wade felt ‘lucky’ to live with mum and husband during lockdown

Fiona Wade spent some of her first year of marriage living with her husband and her mum.

The ‘Emmerdale’ actress and her significant other Simon Cotton tied the knot in October, and the happy couple ended up living with the star’s mother during lockdown, which Fiona – who plays Priya Kotecha on the ITV soap – feels "very lucky" for.

She said: "We came home for the weekend, it was my birthday, and it was just when we got the call to say, ‘Stay there, don’t come back to work.’

"And I wouldn’t leave my mum in a million years. It was amazing.

"So for the start of our marriage, we’ve been in lockdown, the three of us.

"But it’s good to all be together. I felt very lucky for that.

"We’re all so close anyway, and Simon has been wonderful."

Fiona also feels fortunate that she and Simon married before the coronavirus pandemic hit.

Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: "I’m very thankful we got married last October. I cannot believe it will nearly be a year. It feels like a few months ago, because, obviously, we’ve had lockdown where everything has just stopped.

"It was amazing when we got married."

Fiona previously admitted her wedding reception was a huge hit with her Dales co-stars.

She said: "Everyone was on the dancefloor until 1.30am. The ‘Emmerdale’ lot didn’t leave the dancefloor."

Simon admitted it was love at first sight when he first spotted the 41-year-old actress.

He said: "They say when you meet the person you’re meant to be with you know. I had started to give up on that ideal and then I met Fi.

"She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen."
