Paula Wilcox has promised fans a "shocking" showdown on Monday’s (03.08.20) episode of ‘Coronation Street’.
The 70-year-old actress recently made her return to the cobbles as Elaine Jones – the first wife of abusive Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) – and they are set to come face-to-face in a "very scary" encounter.
She told Digital Spy: "Seeing Geoff is really shocking. Elaine probably saw pictures in the paper of him, so I suppose she knows vaguely what he looks like, but there’s no way she wants to see him.
"Elaine came to the Street to have a look at the house and to see if she could convince Tim [Metcalfe]. She knows she wants to stay away from Geoff, but then inevitably he finds her because he’s been looking for her and that’s very, very scary.
"Geoff wants her out of his life, absolutely. He doesn’t want her there. There is a little scene when he warns her off and he’s going to make damn sure she doesn’t mess up the plan.
"Elaine knows everything about Geoff, so she can really blow the whistle on him. I think it’s just the way he speaks to her. Everything comes flooding back – the fear, the dread, the horror from all her life comes back."
Paula previously appeared on the cobbles back in 1969 as Ray Langton’s (Neville Buswell) sister Janice but has returned in the new role of Geoff’s ex-wife and Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) biological mother.
Elaine previously revealed that while she is only signed on in a guest role, she’d love to stick around in the future.
When asked if she would consider something "more permanent", she told TV Times magazine: "I’m shooting something else in September.
"But I do think this story could run and run, so we’ll see. I’ll keep my fingers crossed."
