Gregg Wallace thinks living with his in-laws is the secret to a happy marriage.
The 55-year-old TV presenter – who tied the knot with Anne-Marie Sterpini, 34, in 2016 – believes he’s hit "the jackpot" with his fourth wife, and has credited his new housemates for helping to keep Anne-Marie from becoming an "exhausted mum".
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he recalled: "I said, ‘Yes, I’m willing to have a baby with you, but a couple of provisos. I’m not willing to swap my fun, sexy girlfriend for an exhausted mum. We make enough money, I’d like to get help in the house.’
"Anna said: ‘What about my mum?’ That was perfect."
The couple – who have 13-month-old Sid together – welcomed Anna’s mum Rina to their five-bedroom mansion in Kent in 2017, with her husband Max joining them the following year.
And the ‘MasterChef’ judge couldn’t be a happier husband as his extended family help out around the house.
He said: "Happy men are at home with their wives and family. There are no happy men in the pubs.
"Anna and her mum take care of all the house stuff. Her dad does all the stuff I can’t do. If a handle comes off a window, if there is a leaky pipe, Max fixes it. He puts up shelves."
Meanwhile, Gregg recently admitted he preferred spending the coronavirus lockdown with his mother-in-law, who is "roughly the same age" as him, as his wife doesn’t understand any of their 70s references.
He previously said: "I love Rena – we have such a giggle. We are roughly the same age.
"Me and Rena remember the same TV shows and sing the same 70s pop songs. Anna doesn’t know what we are talking about. We were singing Boney M at breakfast this morning and Anna has no idea."
