Naga Munchetty: I don’t make a good first impression

Naga Munchetty doesn’t think she makes a "great first impression".
The 45-year-old presenter – who starred on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2016 – has admitted it often takes time for people to warm to her personality.
She shared: "[I always assume] that people don’t like me. It’s a really weird thing."
Asked whether she’s always felt like that, Naga explained: "Yeah, probably. I think I grow on people.
"I don’t think I make a great first impression. I’m comfortable with that. I think people see a loud person who’s opinionated and not afraid to say what she thinks."
Naga has continued to work her usual shifts on ‘BBC Breakfast’ amid the coronavirus pandemic.
And the presenter actually feels grateful that she’s managed to retain some sense of normality during the current crisis.
She told the Guardian newspaper: "I’m so grateful to be working because I think it’s really easy to not have purpose or structure during this. And I love the job."
Naga’s ‘Breakfast’ show is rivalled by ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, which is hosted by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
She welcomes the competition between the two programmes, but suggested that ‘Good Morning Britain’ adopts a different approach to its BBC rival.
Naga – who has been at the BBC since 2008 – said: "I think competition is a great thing. I have immense respect for Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.
"How much attention do I pay to it? If you are on Twitter, or you read the papers, there is usually a story or something generated from ‘GMB’. Noise, and an alternative, is a good thing."
