Daniel Brocklebank says Covid-19 will ‘inevitably change’ Corrie

Daniel Brocklebank says the Covid-19 will inevitably change ‘Coronation Street’.
The 40-year-old actor – who plays vicar Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap – has admitted he has no idea what things will be like when filming finally resumes on the show but says that the global health crisis will change both the fictional town of Weatherfield and the set where filming takes place.
He told The Guardian newspaper: "We represent social issues, reflective of wider society. Who knows what Weatherfield might look like post-Covid? None of us do. It will change though, that’s inevitable.
"We will have to expect massive changes in the way the building is run if social distancing rules still apply. How the hell are makeup artists going to do hair and makeup? How can I portray a loving relationship with someone on screen if I can’t go within two meters of them?"
And Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley revealed she worries about how people will cope if their beloved soaps go off the air.
She said: "We’re like a crutch for people, tuning in is like visiting your own family."
However, she admitted she is enjoying a break from the 12-hour days of filming.
Lisa explained: "I normally come home, jump in the bath and go through the next day’s lines. And then it’s already past 10pm and I’m going to bed, setting my alarm for 5:50am the following morning."
‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Emmerdale’ have both reduced the number of weekly episodes that air on TV but ‘Emmerdale’ will run out of episodes at the end of May and ‘Coronation Street’ only has enough episodes left to run until the end of June.
