This Morning hosts reveal they’re still on air after being classed as ‘essential service’

‘This Morning’ co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have reassured viewers they are still on air because the government has classed them as an "essential service" during the coronavirus pandemic.
Some had questioned why the pair were still going to work when much of the UK is effectively on lockdown, but they clarified why and vowed to answer people’s concerns and "offer useful advice" during these tough times.
Speaking on today’s (24.03.20) show, Phil said: "The government has classed us as an essential service for the time being, to bring you the latest news on the virus, to answer your concerns with our doctors, to offer useful advice, and to hopefully lighten the load as only ‘This Morning’ knows how."
Holly added: "We are running with a skeleton staff from now on and with lots of people working from home, and all our regular behind the scenes services cut back to an absolute minimum."
Phil revealed the show is using the same camera crew as ‘Good Morning Britain’, with the team just bringing the equipment through a "hole in the wall" to save on staff at this time.
He said: "A lot of our crew have just brought cameras through from ‘Good Morning Britain’, so we’re using their cameras, bringing them through a hole in the wall and everyone is over here now."
The presenting pair also encouraged viewers to "use us in the best possible way".
Holly said: "We know that it’s a worrying time, but we want to answer your questions and take your calls and, ultimately, put your mind at rest.
"We’ve got a plan of what we’re doing today, but honestly, that plan can go out of the window.
"If there’s anything you’re watching, or you’ve seen something and you’ve got any concerns, just get in touch. We’ve got experts.
"We’re here for you, so use us in the best possible way."
Phil added: "We’re a pretty flexible show at the best of times, but we’ve never been more flexible than we are now."
