Roman Kemp was able to be himself on I’m A Celeb

Roman Kemp was able to be himself on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’
The 27-year-old radio presenter – who is the son of singers Martin Kemp and Shirlie Holliman – took part in the ITV reality show last year, where he was able to shed his family’s success and let his own personality shine through.
Speaking to the MailOnline, he said: "I could totally be myself. I came out of the show and it was crazy. And it kind of hit home that I wasn’t Martin Kemp’s son anymore. Or even Roman Kemp. They said to me, ‘You’re the name on the back of your jungle shirt. You’re just Roman!’"
What’s more, the Capital Breakfast host will be working alongside his famous dad in a new show called ‘Sunday Best’.
Roman added: "I get to work with my best mate. He and I just go through everything together. We shout, argue, cry together. But any opportunity to work with him, I take it."
The show will feature celebrity chats, live music performances, appearances from up-and-coming comedians, and the father and son duo playing a host of games.
To get people on the show, Roman asked some of his star-studded friends to join him and his dad for interviews.
He said: "I like to ask favours of friends I know in the industry. Get them to come on and showcase their talent."
However, Roman turned down the chance to interview one of his heroes, Jim Carrey after he was too scared he would get starstruck.
He explained: "I was too scared, I turned it down. I love him. My humour is sort of based on his. But it was too much pressure. I just couldn’t do it!"
Meanwhile, Roman has dubbed himself a "producer’s nightmare" as he tends to rock up to work minutes before he is due to go on air without reading his notes.
He said: "I don’t read the overnight notes and I just rock up at 5:58AM and go, ‘So what shall we talk about today?’ It’s always a rush. I’m a producer’s nightmare. But I love it. I love what I’m doing. And I love that I get to start my show at 6AM, an extra half an hour before [the other radio stations’ breakfast shows]."
