Amy Tapper says going to the gym helped her "mentally" after trolls criticised her weight.
The ‘Gogglebox’ star was left devastated when viewers bullied her for her weight when she first appeared on the reality show at 13 year old, but since she started exercising regularly at the gym Amy, now 20, has a whole new mindset.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Friday (17.01.20), she explained: "Its taken me a lot of years to learn … It’s exercise, it’s a lifestyle change. The gym has been the best thing for me mentally, and I’ve just come back from a gap year as well.
"So as soon as I came back, I just started this diet. Honestly, if I hadn’t of gone to the gym, I don’t know where I would be mentally."
However, Amy still remembers the nasty comments trolls made about her weight, and how she would let their words get into her head until she got a bit older and realised they didn’t know what she was like off-screen.
Amy recalled: "When I was younger, I cared a lot about what people thought. I used to look up my name on Twitter. They used to say horrible things. I don’t understand it but as I got older I realised they don’t actually know me and they don’t know what I do behind closed doors.
"It annoys me because they think, ‘She sits there on the couch, watching telly and eating crisps.’ When in reality, it’s just not how I live my life."
Now, the ‘Celebs Go Dating’ star is a regular gym bunny after testing a series of yo-yo diets since she was a child.
She added: "There’s a lot things out there that are quick fixes but as soon as you come off of it, you put the weight back on. I want it to be a long-term thing and I want it to off forever. I feel a lot better, my energy levels are so much higher. I can do a lot more things, I just feel so much better."
