Kym Marsh can’t wait to be reunited with her boyfriend this week.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress – whose character Michelle Connor left the cobbles last month after 13 years on the soap – is "really excited" to be back with her military man Scott Ratcliffe has a break from his tour of the Middle East over the festive period.
Writing in her column for OK! magazine, she said: "My Scott’s back later this week for a short break from his current overseas tour with his regiment.
"I’m really excited to see him. We’ve been apart for four months so far.
"It’s never going to be easy being away from Scott but at least I now know I can do it – and it won’t be forever."
While Scott was overseas for Christmas, Kym and her eight-year-old daughter Polly – from her previous marriage to Jamie Lomas – were both ill, and the 43-year-old star has hit back at her critics over her attitude to the sickness.
She added: "Polly and I both had the norovirus vomiting bug over the holidays.
"I went back to work on ‘Elf: A Christmas Spectacular’ 24 hours later and people were saying that I was irresponsible, putting others at risk.
"When you’re booked to do a show you have to turn up!"
Meanwhile, Kym previously said she was expecting Christmas to be tough with Scott away from home.
She admitted: "It is really hard. You do all those little things [like FaceTime], we’ve sent him boxes with Christmas things in, so he’ll have that on Christmas Day."
The actress was "anxious" about saying goodbye to Scott as he was preparing to leave, and she explained it can sometimes take weeks for them to talk because of the poor signal in the places he visits.
She recently explained: "If he’s on a base he can get in touch, but there are times when he is out on exercises and I don’t hear from him for three weeks because there is just no signal."
