Lenny Henry will never recover from Doctor Who role

Sir Lenny Henry will "never recover" from his ‘Doctor Who’ role.
The actor and comedian will team up with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor in a two-part adventure called ‘Spyfall’, which begins on New Year’s Day (01.01.20), and Lenny admits that it was "bizarre" starring in the beloved TV show.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Lenny said: "It’s really bizarre being in ‘Doctor Who’, I must say, because the things you that you hid behind the sofa from when you were little, are there on the set with you.
"And it was so freaky to be on the set, being frightened in real time. I don’t think I’ll ever recover, really. But it was really exciting."
The 61-year-old star also praised the ‘Doctor Who’ team for being "incredibly welcoming" towards the guest cast for ‘Spyfall’, which also features Stephen Fry.
Lenny explained: "It didn’t feel like – well, it was work, but it didn’t feel like work, because these guys have established a family and a way of being where you just fit in straight away, with cups of tea and biscuits, sitting around, talking, and playing ‘The Chase’ for some reason.
"It was really good fun, and I almost felt immediately, with everybody, part of the team. We just wanted it to be good and wow, my mind is blown."
Lenny previously admitted that his appearance on ‘Doctor Who’ was the fulfilment of a "dream".
The ‘Broadchurch’ star said: "I think it was everybody’s dream (to be on ‘Doctor Who’). When you’re a kid, you hid behind the sofa and watched the Daleks and watched William Hartnell. Everybody hid behind the sofa."
Lenny, who will play a mysterious role in the episode, also thinks fans of the show will "enjoy" the upcoming episode.
He said: "This role was a joy and I think people are going to enjoy it. It’s very adventuresome."
