Kym Marsh was ‘crying on tap’ filming final Corrie scenes

Kym Marsh was "crying on tap" while filming her final ‘Coronation Street’ scenes.
The ‘Corrie’ star is to bow out of the ITV soap in the coming weeks after 13 years of portraying Michelle Connor, and she admits one handy thing about being so emotional during her final scenes was that she didn’t have to act out any tears.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz and other media, she said: "It was really emotional and very weird. The week or so leading up to it, that was the worst.
"It was good as I had to film loads of emotional stuff, so crying was not a problem. I was crying on tap.
"My last day was really emotional. My final scene was in The Rovers with the Connors.
"There were speeches and gifts. I was really quite overwhelmed."
Kym says the door is being left open for Michelle to potentially return to the cobbles one day – unless ‘Corrie’ bosses choose to kill the character off screen.
She said: "We very much equally saw it as break. We didn’t see it as me saying goodbye. So I think that discussion made it easier.
"I don’t want to sit here and say, ‘I’m leaving, that’s it’. I love the character and I love the show. This is definitely not the end of Michelle, unless they kill me off screen."
But before she departs Weatherfield, Michelle will be left devastated when she ends up inadvertently selling the Bistro to her arch nemesis Ray Crosby (Mark Frost).
Kym added: "Michelle is furious about that. Of all the people to buy the Bistro, it’s him, the slimeball.
"He’s the last person that she was expecting.
"She doesn’t take the news very well and contemplates trying to change things but it’s too late. He’s the last person she’d want to sell the Bistro to."
Kym recently admitted she was feeling "emotional to say the least" after receiving her final ‘Coronation Street’ scripts.
She tweeted: "Sooooo……had my very last scripts for @itvcorrie the end of an era is in sight! I’m emotional to say the least!! (sic)"
