Greg Rutherford wasn’t ‘a big cook’

Greg Rutherford insists he wasn’t "much of a big cook" before competing on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The 32-year-old retired long jumper beat former footballer Neil Ruddock and reality TV star Vicky Pattison to win the cooking competition earlier this month and was "over the moon" to take the crown because his culinary skills improved so much over the course of filming the show.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I definitely wasn’t much of a big cook previously. I’ve learnt so much during the (‘MasterChef’) process.
"If you saw some of the pictures of how I started to when I finished the progress was astounding, but it really was night and day. I was alright at cooking a piece of chicken and a bit of veg (previously), but even then I’d overcook the veg, so it was purely the process of being on ‘MasterChef’ that has given me the proper skills and I’m thrilled.
"I feel like now I’m a pretty good cook!
"In that five weeks filming process to go from a very basic cook to doing what I was able to do in the final, yeah I was over the moon."
Cooking isn’t the only skill Greg has picked up recently as he’s also learned to swim and showed off his skills to launch the new next generation smartwatch, the Huawei Watch GT 2.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant donned a wetsuit and took the plunge into the cold water at London’s Royal Victoria Dock to get to the Huawei Dive Thru kiosk and collect a timepiece of his own.
The kiosk – which measures 2.6m tall and 2m wide – is half submerged under water and can dispense the chosen smartwatch into a collection point situated a metre below the surface of the water.
Greg said: "I’m used to high intensity sports and keeping fit and healthy is something I’m not averse to, however jumping in the freezing cold water of the Royal Victoria Dock isn’t something I tend to do on a regular basis!
"The new Huawei Watch GT 2 is the perfect accompaniment to working out and keeping on top of exercising and staying fit, so I didn’t mind getting in the water to get my hands on one! Plus it has a dedicated Open Swim mode, so can keep track of my stroke in the water."
Members of the public can put their swimming skills to the test on Saturday (19.10.19) at Royal Victoria Dock, London and be in with the chance of winning a Huawei Watch GT 2 for themselves.
Willing customers will be challenged to dive into the water, swim up to the ‘Dive-Thru’ to place their order, then collect their brand-new Huawei Watch GT 2 from a specially created under water hatch.
A limited number of the watches – which have 15 sports modes and keep track of approximately 190 types of data – will be available at the Dive Thru on Saturday.
For more information about the Dive Thru or the Huawei Watch GT 2 range, visit www.huaweidivethru.com.
