Tamzin Outhwaite has filmed her final EastEnders scenes

Tamzin Outhwaite has filmed her final scenes on ‘EastEnders’.
The 48-year-old actress – who reprised her role as Mel Owen in 2018 after 16 years away – made the decision earlier this year to leave the BBC One soap to "pursue other challenges" and she has now announced on Twitter that she has wrapped her departure storyline.
She tweeted: "So that’s it! The end of an era … for me at least. Melanie Healy/Beale/Owen has left the building … it’s been a pleasure , a privilege and a 21 year association with a family I will cherish forever and never forget … TIL next time my beautiful cast and crew … you all rock. (sic)"
Tamzin also posted that she had a "lovely" last day and was bid farewell with an emotional speech from ‘EastEnders’ Series Production Manager Rona McKendrick.
In a reply to a tweet from director Richard Lynn, she spilled: "Ahhh Richard … ”twas a lovely last day … had most of my favourite people at work, on a Saturday, apart from @RealScottMaslen who was fishing of course … @McLuckluck did a speech, she didn’t cry at all, and neither did I! (sic)"
Several of Tamzin’s co-stars also tweeted her to wish her well in the future and praise her for being a wonderful castmate.
Scott Maslen – who plays Jack Branning – wrote: "We will have a celebration don’t you worry about that!!! It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you I’ve had such fun!!! And made a new friend. Well done Tamzin you’re a legend."
Lucy Benjamin – who recently reprised her role as Lisa Fowler – tweeted: "You are amazing my darling. Today was just the end of another chapter! And I will see you very soon on the outside."
Tamzin’s exit scenes are expected to air in the next couple of months on BBC One.
Her announcement comes following a week of explosive episodes which ended with Mel’s teenage son Hunter gunned down by the police in response to him holding a host of Albert Square residents hostage in the Queen Vic pub and shooting Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).
