Tina O’Brien found her first ‘Coronation Street’ scenes with Sam Robertson "awkward".
The 36-year-old actress’ alter ego Sarah Platt has stricken up a romance with the Scottish actor’s character Adam Barlow and the pair had barely time to speak to one another before they had to get very close on camera.
Tina said: "I’ll be honest, the first hour was a bit awkward as they were literally our first scenes, with lots of kissing in front of a crew of about 30!
"But within an hour, it was fine to the point that I joked with Sam that kissing him was easier than talking to him as I didn’t have to learn any lines! He is a really lovely guy."
Tina hopes Sarah and Adam will marry because she thinks it would be "amazing" to bring together two of the soap’s most iconic families.
When asked about Sarah and Adam’s future, and if wedding bells were on the agenda, she told Inside Soap magazine: "It would be amazing, because I’d love to bring the Barlows and Platts together. They’re the two big families on the Street."
However, the blonde beauty wouldn’t be very excited about an elaborate wedding.
She added: "If Adam and Sarah want to marry, they ought to elope! It’s not as fun as it looks when you’re stood there in a dress that you’ve been wearing for three weeks solid."
Meanwhile, Tina admitted Helen Worth, who plays matriarch Gail Rodwell, is often responsible for ruining scenes when filming with the rest of their family because she can’t keep a straight face.
She said: "It’s usually Helen who can’t [keep a straight face], which is hilarious, because you think of her as the mother of the family. She’ll just start cracking up, and not be able to get through a scene without laughing."
