Greg O’Shea granted leave from Love Island villa

Greg O’Shea was granted leave from the ‘Love Island’ villa to attend his grandmother’s funeral.
The Irish rugby player was allowed to temporarily leave the show and fly to Dublin after his beloved grandmother, Monica Ho, passed away at her nursing home on Friday (19.07.19), and his family have praised ITV2 producers for this "unprecedented" move.
Speaking to Limerick Live 95, Greg’s father Niall O’Shea said: "Monica passed away peacefully on 19th July 2019, in the care of Talbot Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family…
"Greg is a very good family man and his mother wanted to make sure he was there because himself and his Nan got on well."
A representative for ‘Love Island’ confirmed Greg was given the chance to fly to Dublin for the funeral, and revealed he has since returned to the villa.
They told the Mirror: "Owing to a bereavement, at the wishes of his family, Greg was away from the villa for a day to attend a funeral.
"Everyone at ‘Love Island’ extends their sympathies to Greg and his family and we have since welcomed him back to the villa."
Since joining the show Greg has caught the eye of Amber Gill, who snubbed fire-fighter ex Michael Griffiths to re-couple with him.
The brunette model was in two minds about who to partner up with last week after Michael declared he still had feelings for her – even though he ditched her for Joanna Chimonides a few weeks ago while she was away in Casa Amor – but ultimately decided on the rugby player because he makes her happy.
Speaking to Greg after the recoupling, Amber said: "It was really hard … but if I’m genuinely honest I wouldn’t accept it on the outside so why would I accept it in here?"
