Cher didn’t attend her son’s wedding.
The 67-year-old singer fell out with Elijah Blue – her son with rocker Gregg Allman – and his partner Marie-Angela King in October and has had no contact with them since, not attending their nuptials on December 1 or inviting them to spend Christmas with her.
Blue said: "I wasn’t going to wait for anyone’s approval and congratulations just like I’ve never waited for any of that my whole life. The way I eloped with my wife is the same way I’ve done everything I’ve ever done. I don’t know any other way and we knew it was the right time.
"I’ve always been the black sheep of my family. The reason being we just have different value systems and we just have a different mentality and that clashes a lot. We have lots of ups and downs and right now isn’t the best time.
"Had we been getting on a little bit better along maybe it would have been different.
"It’s like a Mexican standoff, but we have a history of issues.
"Christmas is supposed to be about family and we’d just gotten married."
The 37-year-old former drug addict admitted his mother and his wife clashed frequently.
He told National Enquirer magazine: "You’ve got two strong women, two big bulls in the pen; I think there’s a respect and I think they butt heads."
Though he says he was "very hurt" to be excluded from the Christmas celebrations, Blue – who moved out of his mother’s home following the row – is hopeful they can reconcile.
However, an insider has warned the ‘Believe’ singer will need to make "major changes" for that to happen.
The source said: "Elijah and his wife are planning to have children and if Cher wants to have any part of her grandchildren’s lives, she is going to have to make some major changes."
