John Torode says it’s "easy" cooking with his fiancee on TV
The couple’s ITV cooking show ‘John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen’ sees the 53-year-old ‘MasterChef’ star teaming up with his wife-to-be, Lisa Faulkner, to create some tasty treats, and he revealed their onscreen partnership is incredibly "natural" because they both have very "different cooking approaches".
John told the Metro: "I’m a trained chef and have been for many years and Lisa is a home cook. The way we approach cooking is different.
"Mine is very regimented and very ordered because that’s what you do in a professional kitchen and I will always keep that.
"But with Lisa, it flows really beautifully and very easily and very naturally. And I think that’s the real difference."
And Lisa, 47, insisted that she is "always learning" new tricks from the trained chef.
She added: "We cook very differently, but we let each other breathe and we learn from each other. I’m always learning from John.
"It’s just nice to pick up tips but also to just be who we are. I ask questions I suppose I know as a cook but not as a chef. It just really interests me."
The cookery duo have a great time, and Lisa confessed the atmosphere on set is like "being at home" in their own kitchen.
She explained: "[It’s] a bit like being at home and cooking in our kitchen. We forget we’re on camera until we then have to do a link at the end of cooking!
"I think that’s the highlight. We’re just chatting and cooking and having a lovely time."
John added: "It’s nice to be working with someone you like quite a lot."
‘John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen’ airs Sundays at 9.25am on ITV.
