Tristan Gemmill has landed his first post-‘Coronation Street’ role in pantomime ‘Peter Pan’.
The cobbles star will leave his Weatherfield role as Robert Preston later this year, and he has signed up to star as Captain Hook in the production at the Swansea Grand Theatre in Wales.
Tristan wrote on Twitter: "People of #Swansea – I am coming to throw sweets at your children. Get your tickets now! (sic)"
He shared a tweet from the theatre which revealed 2014 ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ semi-finalist Ricky K will take on the role of Starkey, and Kev Johns will portray Mrs Smee.
But things aren’t going so well for Tristan’s character Robert, who has got his ex Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn) pregnant, despite getting back with Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) – and the actor admits things are going to come "crashing down" for him soon.
When asked what is in store for Robert, he said: "I think a very tricky period of spinning two plates at the same time, without one plate finding out about another plate’s existence … which is going to be a very tricky prospect and sooner or later, they’re going to come crashing down!"
But Tristan has insisted he doesn’t have the same character traits as Robert.
He said: "Only that we have the same head. I think Robert tries to please people and doesn’t like hurting their feelings … so there’s probably an echo of that in me.
"He’s pretty much a good guy, but he makes bad decisions. I would like to think I make better life decisions than he does."
