Lysette Anthony’s ‘Hollyoaks’ contract has been renewed "months and months early".
The 55-year-old actress will continue on the Channel 4 soap as Marnie Nightingale after she revealed show bosses offered her an extension much earlier than she was due one, and she is really grateful to head of casting Peter Hunt.
In response to a fan who was celebrating her being tied down to another year on the soap, she wrote on Twitter: "In truth it’s longer.. @Hollyoaks have been super generous & renewed my contract months (& months) early. For which as a single Mum I say- @thepeterhunt thank you! (sic)"
It comes after Lysette – who has starred in numerous movies, including ‘Look Who’s Talking Now’ opposite John Travolta and Danny DeVito – confirmed she had put pen to paper on a new deal on the soap.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "I love it here. It’s my best ever gig.
"I’ve just signed for another year. They say that as you get older, there are so few parts for women, but not in Soapland. We run the gaff."
This comes just months after Lysette revealed in December she had signed a new deal, which kicked off in November, and was planning to buy a house in Liverpool after falling in love with the city since starring in ‘Hollyoaks’.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’ve signed for another year and I’m buying a house in Liverpool, so I have long-term plans.
"I am an honorary Scouser. I’m made up, it is boss."
But she admitted her son James, 14, was initially reluctant to make the move to the north of England, but he is now keen to take his A-levels in the city.
She added: "My son was furious about moving up to Liverpool.
"I said to him, ‘Do you want to eat or not?’
"He is now really happy at school, he wants to do his A-levels in Liverpool."
