Steve Coogan: I haven’t ‘said goodbye’ to Alan Partridge yet

Steve Coogan says he hasn’t "said goodbye" to Alan Partridge yet.
The 53-year-old actor has starred as the comic broadcaster since 1991 but has vowed to continue in the role on and off for a number of years.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I haven’t said goodbye to him just yet. He comes and he goes. He’s like an annoying uncle you see from time to time."
Meanwhile, ‘The Time with Alan Partridge’s co-writers Neil and Rob Gibbons recently revealed a new Alan Partridge series is in the works.
They said: "Actually, there are other formats on our list, one of which we’re – I don’t know if we can talk about it – but we’re about to shoot another ‘Partridge’ series. We’re going to film it in May for the BBC, which is Alan trying his hand at something else."
Steve had previously admitted he has a "love hate relationship" with Alan.
Asked why he keeps coming back to the roll, he said: "Well, I suppose the simple explanation is that it makes me laugh … For me, it’s this strange, long journey, but it has been very good because I’ve had this sort of love-hate relationship with Alan. I’ve come to accept Alan in my life … The way I’m talking to you now, I’m being careful about how I’m phrasing things because it’s me talking. But as Alan, you can sort of let the dog off the leash."
