Gregory Finnegan’s cat has died.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor took to social media earlier this week to reveal his beloved feline friend Jacko had gone missing, and while the 38-year-old star’s pussy pal returned home, he had to be put to sleep after coming back "in a bad way".
Gregory wrote on Twitter: "Strange night. My missing cat Jacko found his way home in a bad way and after a consultation with a vet had to be put to sleep. Thankful that I got to say goodbye to my best little bud who’s been with me through so much. Upset & depressed I stopped at a pub on the way home (1/2) (sic)"
However, the star’s night had a bizarrely positive ending.
Following his pet predicament, Gregory popped into a pub to drown his sorrows only to remember his favourite football team Tottenham Hotspur were playing in a crucial Champions League semi-final.
The north London side made a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down at half-time against Ajax to win 3-2 and progress to the competition’s final – and the ‘Oaks’ actor believes his cat played a part in the "incredible" fightback.
He wrote: "(2/2) And remembered there was a game going on. Incredible scenes which left my shattered emotions further shredded. Gonna miss you Jacko, you watched me tear my hair out watching Spurs over the past 17 years and I’m going to credit you with the incredible comeback. (sic)"
Just days ago, Gregory was "fearing the worst" about his cat after he went missing.
He wrote on Instagram: "This old timer wandered out of the house at the weekend and hasn’t been seen since. Fearing the worst (sic)"
The 38-year-old actor’s co-star Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) sympathised with the star about his missing moggy.
She wrote: "Oh no!"
