Amanda Mealing dismisses eating disorder claims

Amanda Mealing has dismissed claims she has an eating disorder.
The ‘Casualty’ star – who plays Connie Beauchamp in the BBC One medical drama – has taken to Twitter to tell social media users she suffers from "extreme back pain" because her job requires a lot of "standing", after some commented on her weight.
Amanda tweeted: "I’m forced to address something I’d hoped not to. My weight. Luckily for some of you & your insensitivity I am not struggling with an eating disorder.
"I am in extreme & constant back pain and have been for nearly a year. Standing for 11 hrs a day takes its toll. End of. (sic)"
The 51-year-old actress previously opened up about the medical drama’s recent crossover episodes with sister show ‘Holby City’, and she admitted there were definite challenges during filming.
She said: "The shows individually are so tightly scheduled, if you think about it.
"On ‘Casualty’, we have 16 or 17 permanent characters, each of which have to be over four episodes – we shoot four at a time.
"So you can imagine scheduling just that one show. Then you have the fact that we’re four months ahead, ‘Holby’ is three months ahead."
Quizzed about the chances of other crossovers in the future, Amanda – who originally appeared as Connie Beauchamp on ‘Holby City’ from 2004 to 2010 before joining the cast of ‘Casualty’ four years later – simply added: "You never know."
Her comments come after she admitted being back on her old stomping ground made her nostalgic.
She previously said: "Do you know what? When I was there, I was walking around, thinking, ‘Do you know what? I’d like to come back, I think. I really would.’ I do love it there, I really do. So we’ll see.
"I didn’t realise how much I loved it. I obviously have great affection for the show. But actually being back just reminded me that I have so many happy memories there.
"It’s like an old friend. It’s like putting an old coat back on, and, you know, it’s lovely."
