Dominic Brunt: Happier times ahead for Paddy and Chas

Dominic Brunt has promised happier times for Paddy Kirk and Chas Dingle.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star has reassured viewers that things will get better for his alter ego and Lucy Pargeter’s character after she told him she is expecting their child in very emotional scenes after a year dealing with the death of baby Grace.
Asked if this year will be happier than the last for Chas and Paddy, Dominic told Metro.co.uk: "Yep! It was exhausting, that storyline [about Grace].
"But then Christmas arrived and it gave us a break. It was such a treat and that’s why you do it."
Although Chas told her partner that the chances of becoming parents could be slim, she also added she didn’t want to spent the whole pregnancy worrying.
While it seems there is some joy on the horizon for the couple, it comes after some very difficult times on set.
Dominic admitted that filming scenes surrounding their on-screen baby’s death left them in tears on and off camera.
He added: "We were talking the other day, saying like we’d do the scenes and then they’d have to move and set up the cameras, and there was a little ante room where we kept just bursting out into tears.
"It was so upsetting, babies, oh god it was just something to be involved."
Although Dominic is certainly settled into life on the Dales, he previously admitted that he gets "petrified" before filming despite playing vet Paddy for over two decades.
He said: "I am loyal to the show and it still frightens the life out of me. I still shake before every scene because it’s petrifying.
"You put eight million people on a hillside watching each episode, that’s quite sobering."
