EastEnders’ Karen Taylor’s daughter is to arrive in Walford in 2019.
The Taylor family look set to get more rowdy next year as no-nonsense launderette worker Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Mitch Baker’s (Roger Griffiths) offspring Chantelle rocks up in Albert Square.
Kate Oates, senior executive producer of ‘EastEnders’ ‘Casualty’ and ‘Holby City’, said: "The Taylor family are set to be complete when Chantelle arrives in Walford and Chantelle certainly has that feisty Taylor streak.
"Things are set to get a whole lot louder in Walford in 2019."
Casting for Chantelle is yet to be announced, but the character is said to have a kind and bubbly nature as well as a no-nonsense streak, much like her opinionated mother.
Karen and Mitch will be delighted to see Chantelle at first but it will become apparent there is some friction between mother and daughter.
This news comes after it was recently confirmed Hannah Spearritt will reprise her role as Karen’s sister Kandice Taylor, and that Roger will be back as Mitch in 2019.
He said: "It feels great to be returning to Albert Square and working with the wonderful cast and crew again, especially the fantastic Taylor family.
"I’m excited for the viewers to learn more about Mitch and see what trouble he gets himself into this time."
Mitch has plenty of making up to do with Karen after he tried to get back with her only for the laundrette worker to discover he had a wife.
Lorraine recently admitted she would love the soap’s bosses to cast an Indian actor for her alter-ego to hook up with, after admitting she was hoping Karen and businessman Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) could get together.
She said: "I thought she was going to go in there for a bit of Asian flavour [with Masood]. I thought they were going to go there but they didn’t.
"I think she likes her Indian men. Bring someone in."
