Kym Marsh is trying to "delay the ageing process" without having to turn to Botox after discovering she is to become a grandmother.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress announced last week that her daughter Emilie, 21, is expecting her first child, and the 42-year-old cobbles star – who plays Michelle Connor on the ITV soap – has booked up several treatments in an attempt to "knock years off".
She said: "Emilie and I have both been really overwhelmed with all the lovely messages congratulating us on her pregnancy.
"And now that I’m going to be a grandmother, I’m trying to delay the ageing process without having to turn to Botox!
"I’ve booked myself in for a course of non-invasive firming and smoothing face treatments at a clinic in Manchester.
"They’re supposed to knock years off you, so I’ll let you know how I get on.
"I’ve also been back in the gym doing some personal training sessions after a bit of a break from exercising.
"I know most people wait until the new year before going on a health kick, but, the way I see it, if I exercise now, I can eat more chocolate over Christmas."
As well as real-life pregnancy, Kym’s ‘Corrie’ co-star Elle Mulvaney’s character Amy Barlow is to find out she is expecting aged 14 years old in a new storyline – and Kym is pleased the pregnant plot will hand the 16-year-old star a chance to "show off her acting skills".
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "I was happy to hear the show is going to be tackling the issue of teenage pregnancy, with Amy Barlow, played by Elle Mulvaney, finding out she’s pregnant at the age of 14.
"It’s an important issue to tackle and a great chance for Elle to show off her acting skills."
