John Torode has turned down ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ "a few times."
The 53-year-old celebrity chef has revealed he’s been approached by bosses of the ballroom and latin show on more than one occasion in the past – and even had meetings with them and visited the set – but he’s got no desire to slip into a sparkly number and show off his snake hips and fancy footwork any time soon.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "I’ve been asked a few times. I’ve done the secret walk through the corridors and the secret rooms, with the secret meetings, and I’ve done all that sort of stuff. But no, at the moment, no."
However, although he’s got no desire to follow in his ‘MasterChef’ co-judge Gregg Wallace’s footsteps after he took part in the BBC One show in 2014, John hasn’t completely ruled out reality TV as he has admitted he’s "intrigued" by shows like ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and ‘Bear Grylls: The Island’.
He explained: "I sometimes look at things such as ‘I’m A Celeb’ and ‘The Island’ and stuff like that. Some of those things intrigue me. I’d love going to the Outback in Australia, and being given a horse and a billycan and told, ‘Right, off you go for a couple of weeks. Go and have a nice time and see if you can survive’."
However, John will need to make sure he takes some chaffing cream with him if he does join the jungle one day as he recently admitted that he suffers with a sweaty bum crack and has to rub all-purpose flour into the crevice.
He said: "It happens when you get really hot and the sweat drips down your back and the only place it can go to is the crack in your bum. And then the sweat dries and becomes salty and it chafes together and you get chef’s arse."
