Dr. Ranj Singh talked someone out of taking their own life.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant was walking past a stranger when he decided to "trust his gut instinct" by stopping to speaking to them, and says he has "never been so terrified" of what could have happened.
Sharing his experience on Instagram, he wrote: "Tonight I was one of those people that almost walked past someone in need.
"On my way home, I trusted my gut instinct and somehow managed to talk someone out of taking their life.
"I’m a trained doctor, but in that moment my medical skills were irrelevant. All I had was simple kindness and conversation. I have never been so terrified of what might have happened.
"I was about to walk past – I’m so glad I didn’t."
The ‘This Morning’ TV doctor – who will be competing in the new series of the BBC ballroom competition – has urged people to speak to others, and thanked the emergency services for their assistance during the incident.
He added: "Tonight I met someone who was about to take their life… if anyone is feeling like they have reached crisis point, PLEASE speak to someone.
"There are so many people there to listen and help. @samaritanscharity @thecalmzone@papyrus_uk @mindcharity.
"Also, ANYONE could have spoken to that person and helped them. Tonight it was me. Next time it could be you. We can all help someone if we just show a little kindness and ask: are you OK? x (sic)"
Ranj recently teased that he wouldn’t "sleep for weeks" due to his hectic ‘Strictly’ schedule.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "It’s not just ‘This Morning’ I need to juggle with ‘Strictly’.
"My ‘This Morning’ job is really important to me, but my NHS job is really important to me as well – and I’m doing it alongside this, so I’m just going to have to make my rehearsals fit around everything and probably not sleep for weeks."
