Ryan Reynolds gave out his email address during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Monday (13.08.18) so fans could receive his funny out-of-office reply.
The ‘Deadpool’ star was one of the guests on the talk show and during his interview he spoke about his alcoholic drink brand Aviation American Gin, which he became a co-owner of earlier this year.
Having been a Hollywood actor for years, Ryan admitted he wasn’t used to having a "genuine responsibility" for a business and wasn’t used to abiding by normal office etiquette such as having an automatic email response when he was on vacation.
The 41-year-old Canadian actor admitted he may have been too jokey with the automatic reply he set up to go to people over Father’s Day weekend in June, which in hindsight was a "bit of an overshare".
Reading aloud the email to Jimmy and the studio audience, he said: "This is the best time to give your father the best Aviation American Gin. While my own father may be gone, the unspoken tension we shared is alive and well. This Father’s Day you may not be able to give dad a second chance, but you can give him a bottle of Aviation American Gin. Or if he died before either of you could even begin to comprehend the importance of closure, just get yourself a bottle."
Ryan – whose father Jim died in October 2015 at the age of 74 – then told viewers that he had a new out-of-office reply they could get if they messaged him, and shared his email address.
He said: "I have one right now if you email me at [email protected]. Probably shouldn’t give my email out…"
Anyone who emailed the hunk got a reply which playfully mocked host Jim, which read: "In the vicinity of 30 Rockefeller Center. Somewhere on the 7th floor. In studio 6B. Sitting on a grey chair. Lost in the eyes of Dreamy McDreamboat."
Ryan went on to joke that he decided to launch his own brand of gin after he developed a taste for the alcoholic drink after needing something to de-stress after he and his wife Blake Lively became parents to daughters, James, three, and 22-month-old Inez.
He said: "I mean, 11 years ago, I remember reading a ‘Deadpool’ comic and feeling like this is a once-in-a-lifetime connection, and then a few years later I met my wife and I was like, ‘Oh I guess a once-in-a-lifetime connection can happen twice.’ And then we had our children and that’s when I realised I love gin."
