Jessica Raine has joined the cast of the BBC drama series ‘Baptiste’.
The 36-year-old actress – who is best known for staring in ‘Call The Midwife’ – and Tom Hollander have been added to the current line-up of ‘The Missing’ spin-off, created by Harry and Jack Williams.
The new drama will see the return of the much-loved investigator Julian Baptiste (Tchéky Karyo) who will take on another criminal case in Amsterdam where Jessica’s character Genevieve seeks out his help.
Executive producers Harry and Jack said in a statement: "We are so pleased to welcome Jessica Raine to our brilliant cast; her talent and commitment are perfect for Genevieve and we’re really excited to see what she does with the character."
Downtown Abbey’s Clare Calbraith has also joined the cast of the upcoming series alongside ‘The Night Manager’ star Tom, who can’t wait to work with Harry and Jack.
Speaking on his new role, Tom explained: "I am very excited to be working with Harry and Jack Williams. They are brilliant story tellers of nuance and suspense."
The Williams brothers previously admitted they were delighted to finally live out their ambition of working with the 50-year-old actor.
They said: "We have wanted to work with Tom for some time and are so pleased he is going to play Edward in ‘Baptiste’.
"Tom’s huge range and formidable talent make him a wonderful addition to our cast."
Filming for ‘Baptiste’ will take place in Antwerp, Ghent, Amsterdam and Deal in Kent.
