Corrie’s Nicola Thorp and Lucy Fallon join Scouts

Coronation Street’s Nicola Thorp and Lucy Fallon have become Scouts ambassadors.
The soap stars have joined the Blackpool branch of the organisation – which prepares youngsters with life skills – and the pair are "excited" about spreading the Scouts’ supportive message.
A message on the Blackpool Scouts Twitter page read: We are so excited to announce that we have two new local ambassadors.
"Welcome to @nicolathorp_ & @lufallon from @itvcorrie They are both just as excited about coming on board as we are and will help us spread the word about the #SkillsForLife we provide here in Blackpool! (sic)"
Nicola, who portrays Nicola Rubinstein in the ITV soap, admitted she is "proud" of what the Scouts are all about and is "over the moon" about her new position alongside Lucy.
She wrote on Twitter: "So super excited about this! Proud of Blackpool and proud of what the Scouts stand for.
"Wasn’t allowed to join when I was little because I was a girl. Now I’m over the moon to be an ambassador! And Scouts is open to EVERYONE!
Be prepared @lufallon (sic)"
Nicola and Lucy – who plays Bethany Platt in the soap – are not the only ‘Corrie’ ambassadors for a good cause.
Their co-star Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) is an ambassador for ActionAid – a non-governmental organisation who work against worldwide poverty and injustice – and she recently admitted her portrayal as a victim of domestic violence in the soap made her "all the more angry" to hear about women suffering such violence in real life.
She said: "The character I play in ‘Coronation Street’, Sally Metcalfe, has herself survived domestic violence and online harassment and I’ll always be proud of having brought those issues to people through the soap.
"But my brief, pretend experience of the problem makes me all the more angry when I read about the women who face violence around the world."
