Damned axed by Channel 4

‘Damned’ has been axed.
Channel 4 have "no plans" for a third helping of the sitcom, which stars Jo Brand and Alan Davies, but admitted they are "incredibly proud" of the show, which explored the goings on in the office of social workers in the Children’s Services department at the fictional Elm Heath council.
A spokeswoman for the channel told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "Across two series of ‘Damned’, Jo Brand, Morwenna Banks and the What Larks! team created a warm, poignant, and pointed comedy of which we’re incredibly proud.
"However, with a number of other brand new comedy series already commissioned for 2019, there are currently no plans for a third series."
Isy Suttie – who plays receptionist Nat – recently admitted she was planning to ask show bosses if her character could take up knitting should a third series be given the green light, because she has taken up the hobby in real life.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "If we get a third series I could ask if Nat could get into knitting.
"Because with this show there are lots of scenes that are quite long, so you might have a line on one page and then four pages of no line, then another line, and I’m normally just on the computer. So maybe I’ll ask if I can do knitting in the back of shot and see what they say."
Isy also admitted she loves working on the programme because the lead stars Jo and Alan make everyone feel relaxed.
She added: "Jo is really fun to be around and very kind, so it really does feel very much like although they are the stars of it, it doesn’t feel like that.
"That’s because of them and the atmosphere on set.
"What happens with the show is, invisibly, how the main actors behave trickles down set.
"Sometimes you’re doing something and you can’t quite put your finger on why everyone feels relaxed, and I think it’s normally because of the leads."
