‘The Durrells’ has been re-commissioned for a fourth series.
Keeley Hawes will reprise her role as matriarch Louisa Durrell for a brand-new six-part season of the ITV drama, which will see Josh O’Connor, Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone and Milo Parker return as her on-screen kids Larry, Leslie, Margo and Gerry.
Victoria Fea, ITV’s senior drama commissioner, said: "’The Durrells’ has proven immensely popular with viewers and critics alike, so we’re thrilled to have commissioned another series.
"Simon Nye’s writing is witty, big-hearted and hugely engaging, so we’re looking forward to seeing what the fourth series has in store."
What’s more, Greek actor Alexis Georgoulis will be back as chauffeur and love interest, Spiros.
Simon Nye will return to pen the fourth series of the show, which is based on conservationist and author Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of books about his family’s time in Corfu during the 1930s.
The next instalment of the series will also be filmed on the Greek island.
In March, Keeley admitted women don’t mind if their husbands want to leave them for her loveable ‘Durrells’ character Louisa.
She said: "It is flattering. And Louisa is not glamorous or anything.
"But it’s also a very nice reaction from their wives, because they go, ‘Yeah if you are going to leave me it’s all right to leave me for Louisa Durrell.’ "
The former ‘Line of Duty’ star’s character has also attracted interest from younger viewers, much to her surprise.
Keeley said: "My daughter had friends over. One went, ‘Are you Mrs Durrell?’ It was so sweet and weird.
"Another time I was at Corfu airport when a lady said, ‘We’ve been searching for you for 10 days and now we’ve found you.’ People look for our locations."
