Josh O’Connor to star in The Crown

Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles in the next series of ‘The Crown’.
‘The Durrells’ actor has reportedly been lined up to portray the heir to the throne in the upcoming third and fourth seasons of the Netflix regal drama, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.
However, Josh turns 28 later this month but the next series of ‘The Crown’ will cover the years 1964-1970, when Charles was aged between 16 and 22.
Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies were previously confirmed to be taking over from Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on the show, while Helena Bonham Carter is expected to take on the role of the monarch’s sister, Princess Margaret, who was previously portrayed by Vanessa Kirby.
‘Line of Duty’ actor Jason Watkins is to play Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
Olivia previously admitted she was "very excited" when she first heard she’d been put forward to play the queen, as she’d enjoyed watching the first series of the drama so much.
She said: "I got a phone call from my agent when I was in a car [telling her that she had been asked to meet with director Peter Morgan].
"I think I had fairly recently finished watching the first series, which I think I had done in about three nights – and so I was very excited. My agent was trying to be subtle, not knowing who was in the car with me and she went, ‘It’s something about a tiara’, and I went, ‘Oh, it’s ‘The Crown’!’"
Filming is scheduled to begin on ‘The Crown’ season three in July, though Netflix have yet to confirm when they will broadcast the new episodes.
