Paris Hilton thinks people had a lot more "fun" before social media existed.
The ‘Simple Life’ star is "happy" that she grew up before the age of Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram because she feels people are missing out on having fun because they’re too busy glued to their phones.
She told E! News: "I’m actually happy I grew up before Instagram and all this, because back in New York, we used to have so much fun because no one had a camera out unless it was like, one of those disposable ones. So everyone was actually talking and having fun, dancing. And nowadays I feel like everyone is just always on their phone, they’re texting, they’re Snapping, taking pictures. Nobody really has a good time like they used to. So I’m happy that I got to live it before."
However, Paris is grateful for social media as it has brought her closer to her fans.
She shared previously: "I’m constantly travelling; 250 days a year I’m on a plane, in a different country. So it gets really lonely sometimes. I love my fans just as much as they love me. I feel closer with them than I do most people that I know. They’re really like my family. My parents think I’m crazy. They’re always like, ‘Why do you let them so into your life? I can’t believe you give them your phone number. You’re letting them stay at your house. Like, what’s wrong with you?’
"I’ve been through so much in life and I don’t really trust people. I’ve just grown accustomed to being f***ed over. With my fans, I don’t feel like that at all. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not either texting or FaceTiming or emailing with my Little Hiltons. I can truly be myself around them. I know they’re not judging me, they’re not trying to use me. They just genuinely love me."
