The Good Karma Hospital set for 3rd series

‘The Good Karma Hospital’ has been re-commissioned for a third series.
ITV have confirmed the medical drama – which is set in southern India and stars Amanda Redman, Amrita Acharia and Neil Morrissey – will return to the channel in 2019 following a successful second series, which came to an end on Sunday (22.04.18).
Lucy Bedford, executive producer of ‘The Good Karma Hospital’, said: "The commission of a third series is testament to the hard work of our incredible cast and talented writers, led by Dan Sefton. "The colourful characters and life-affirming stories continue to strike a chord with the audience and we are so excited to be bringing everyone another series of this wonderful drama."
Victoria Fea, ITV’s senior drama commissioner, added: "We’re delighted to be returning to The Good Karma Hospital for a third series. Writer Dan Sefton has created emotionally engaging storylines and a community of intriguing characters that we all instantly care about.
"We’re grateful to the cast for bringing them to life and to the production team who film in the most glorious sun-drenched location."
Amrita – who plays junior doctor Ruby Walker – admitted she would love the show, which is filmed in Sri Lanka, to return for a third season because she cannot get enough of shooting in the sun.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I really love Sri Lanka, I’m always a bit gutted I never have as much time as I’d like to explore the country.
"I really enjoy filming there and I get a lot out of filming in a hot country, because I love the sun.
"I hope the show will come again, if the audience like it and the ratings are good enough."
Filming for the third series will get underway in August, and further casting news will be revealed.
It’s not yet known if Amanda and Amrita will return to the show alongside fellow cast members James Krishna Floyd, Darshan Jariwalla, Sagar Radia and Nimmi Harasagama.
The series tells the story of the titular Indian cottage medical facility and the lives of the doctors and nurses who work there, including Dr. Lydia Fonseca, who is played by Amanda.
