Ed Sheeran has written a song about an ex-girlfriend.
The ‘Lego House’ hitmaker, who has announced his new album ‘x’ will be released on June 23, admits one track on the record is a "true story" about a former lover.
He told The Sun newspaper: "If you date a songwriter, prepare to have songs written about you."
Ed, who is close friends with Taylor Swift, who has written a number of songs about her ex-boyfriends, added that he "could have gotten nastier" and claims the song is a "100 per cent true story".
The 23-year-old singer, whose latest track ‘Sing’ will be debuted on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show tonight (07.04.14), has posted details of his new album on Twitter, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘+’, which sold 102,000 copies in its first week on sale.
Ed wrote: "My 2nd album is called ‘x’ or ‘multiply’ and will released on the 23rd of June worldwide. Can’t wait for you guys to hear it."
It was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin, who advised him to record the record acoustically first and add instrumentation afterwards.
