Harry Reid swaps EastEnders for West End

Harry Reid is to make his stage debut in ‘Witness for the Prosecution’ – his first role since departing ‘EastEnders’.
The 25-year-old actor bowed out of the BBC One soap when his character Ben Mitchell left Walford for France earlier this year, and he will next be treading the boards as Leonard Vole in the Agatha Christie production at London’s County Hall.
Harry’s new alter-ego will be tasked with trying to convince the jury of his innocence after he is accused of murdering a widow to inherit her wealth.
If Vole is sent down then it won’t be the first time Harry has played the part of a criminal as he landed the role of Ben in 2014 when his character was released from prison for the manslaughter of Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison).
Call the Midwife’s Lucy Phelps will star as Romaine, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ actor Richard Clothier will be Sir Wilfrid Robarts, The Alchemist’s Julian Curry will portray Mr Justice Wainwright, and Shakespeare in Love actor Peter Moreton will take on the role of Mr Mayhew.
While Harry is a new addition to the play to take on the role of Vole, former ‘Heartbeat’ actor Philip Franks will continue in the part of Mr Myers, and Richard Attlee, Jules Melvin and Hywel Simons will also return to the production.
In November, Harry admitted it had been tough shooting his final scenes.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I don’t know whether I’m killed off or not, but I’d love to come back if he’s alive. It’s been difficult filming the final scenes."
‘Witness for the Prosecution’ is currently booking until 16 September 2018.
