Sarah Jessica Parker is ‘grieving’ over Kim Cattrall

Sarah Jessica Parker is still "grieving" over Kim Cattrall’s decision to quit the ‘Sex and the City’ franchise.
The 52-year-old actress – who stars as the iconic Carrie Bradshaw in the money-spinning TV and movie series – has revealed that she and the rest over the cast still trying to recover from Kim walking away from the part of Samantha Jones ahead of the third film.
Appearing to speak somewhat sarcastically, Sarah told ‘Watch What Happens Live’: "I think once everybody has thoroughly experienced the grieving process, then [director] Michael Patrick King can go back and sort of ponder what he might want to do and how he might want to proceed."
Hollywood veteran Sharon Stone has recently been linked with the role of Samantha, and Sarah refused to rule out the idea entirely, admitting that it’s an "interesting" prospect.
After the possibility was raised by TV host Andy Cohen, Sarah replied: "I think you are not the first person who said that. I think it’s a really interesting idea."
Kim, 61, first rejected the opportunity to reprise the part of Samantha in December 2016 – but her decision to quit only came to light last year.
Speaking in 2017, she explained: "I remember so clearly making that decision. Last December, I got a phone call and it was concerning that and I knew exactly, I could feel it, and the answer was simply, ‘Thank you but no, I’m good.’ "
But the situation ignited in dramatic fashion last year, when she was asked during an interview with Piers Morgan whether she’d behaved like a diva during filming for the franchise.
Kim responded: "To get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of ‘no’ that I’m demanding or a diva, and this is really where I take to task the people from ‘Sex and the City’ and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker is that I think she could have been nicer.
"I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.
"I think the thing that still bothers me is this feeling of being in some way made to be the baddie. I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."
