Maisie Williams confirms new Game of Thrones date

Maisie Williams has confirmed ‘Game of Thrones’ will return in April 2019.
The 20-year-old actress stars as Arya Stark in the HBO fantasy drama series, and whilst it was previously confirmed that the show’s eighth and final season would air in 2019, Maisie has now gone one step further and confirmed the month in which the show will hit screens once again.
She said: "We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes."
Despite the short four months in between the final filming day and the first episode’s air date, Maisie insists the final season won’t be "rushed", as the whole cast and crew are determined to deliver a finale that is done "to the best of their abilities".
Speaking to Metro News, she said: "There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities."
Previously, HBO confirmed in a statement that fans would have to wait until 2019 – two years after the last season aired in 2017 – to watch the conclusion of the beloved saga.
They said: "’Game Of Thrones’ will return for its six episode, eighth and final season in 2019."
Emilia Clarke, who plays Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, recently revealed that she and the rest of the cast have been banned from posting any sneak peeks from the set on social media.
She admitted: "We have a very strict social media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone. It’s really frustrating."
And even the stars of the show don’t know how the final series will play out as producers have taken drastic measures to stop the ending being leaked.
Emilia said: "They’ve written a number of different endings. So none of the cast know what the actual ending is. If there’s ever a leak of any kind, don’t believe it because it’s probably not true."
