Stephen Mulhern to miss first Britain’s Got Talent auditions due to illness

Stephen Mulhern is set to miss the first ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions due to an illness.
The 40-year-old presenter has been fronting the ITV2 spin-off show ‘Britain’s Got More Talent’ since 2007, and this year marks the first time he will not be on TV screens.
Taking to Twitter, Stephen wrote: "Morning! Absolutely gutted to be missing the first round of @BGT auditions this week in Blackpool!
"I am on doctor’s strict orders to rest my voice, after suffering a nasty bout of Laryngitis – first day off from the show in 11 years.
"Unbelievable! I will be on mute until London auditions on the 27th Jan, look forward to seeing you all then! (sic)"
The air date for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has not been revealed yet but the show will see the return of regular judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.
Ant and Dec will be back to host the competition show and will bid for their 17th consecutive TV Presenter prize at the National Television Awards (NTAs) this year after being nominated for the accolade.
The presenting pair – who managed a record-breaking 16th win in the category last year – will face stiff competition from Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield and Bradley Walsh at the ceremony later this month, and could get their hands on four gongs in total on the night.
The duo’s show ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ is up for the newly-named Sir Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award – a nod to the late TV legend, who passed away in August 2017 aged 89 – alongside ‘The Graham Norton Show’, ‘Celebrity Juice’ and ‘All Round to Mrs. Brown’s’.
Ant and Dec could also taste success in two other categories for shows they present as ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is up against ‘The Great British Bake Off’, ‘MasterChef’ and ‘Love Island’ for best Challenge Show, and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has a nod in the Talent Show category.
