Uma Thurman’s Hollywood blast

Uma Thurman has slammed Hollywood’s treatment of women.
The 47-year-old actress admitted she has been frustrated, particularly during her early career, because she was trying to "be decent and work hard" but was met with "contempt and dismissiveness toward women of all kinds."
She added in an interview with The New York Times newspaper: "A great cinema role comes along a few times. Maybe for some people, more often. But not everybody."
However, the ‘Kill Bill’ star refused to comment on the accusations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein – who produced seven of her movies – and Kevin Spacey, who starred in ‘House of Cards’, which was created by Beau Willimon, the writer of her new play ‘The Parisian Woman’.
She simply said: "I’ll discuss it when I want to discuss it."
Uma has previously admitted she felt too "angry" to speak about the Hollywood scandal.
She said last month: "I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you, because I have learned, I am not a child and I have learned that… when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself.
"So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry… and when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say."
Last year, the ‘Gattaca’ actress – who has Maya, 19, and Levon, 15, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke and Luna, five, with former partner Arpad Busson – slammed Italian entrepreneur Lapo Elkann after he kissed her at amfAR’s 23rd annual Cinema Against AIDS gala in Antibes, France.
The former Fiat CEO had bid $196,000 to win the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show experience and celebrated by planting a passionate kiss on Uma, who was unimpressed by his actions.
Her representative said at the time: "It is opportunism at its worst. She wasn’t complicit in it. Somewhere in his head he must have thought it an appropriate way of behaving. It clearly wasn’t. She is very unhappy that this happened to her and feels violated."
The spokesperson also said: "It looks like she was happy to have it happen, but it was not consensual."
