Leon Mallett has left ‘The X Factor’.
The 22-year-old hopeful was booted out of the competition on Saturday night (04.11.17) during the latino-themed week after failing to impress the public with his version of Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams’ ‘Get Lucky’.
Speaking to host Dermot O’Leary after his exit, Leon – who returned to the competition for the live shows as the public’s wildcard act – said: "The whole thing has been a highlight. Just sharing the stage with such talent, I just feel humbled and blessed to share it with all these guys.
"It’s been a great year, everyone is amazing. Thanks to the public for voting me back and letting me have that opportunity."
Meanwhile, Rak-Su were crowned the winner’s of Saturday night’s show, which saw Louis Walsh’s Boys category go head to head with Simon Cowell’s Groups. They will now compete with Sunday night’s winner to win this week’s money can’t buy prize of a studio session with a legendary producer and a chance to work on and record their own single.
After his nasty fall down the stairs last week, Simon returned to the judging panel but was the butt of many jokes throughout the night.
As Dermot introduced Simon to the studio audience, he quipped: "He’s a big fan of music but for some reason recently he’s really gone off Steps? Don’t know why though."
However, it didn’t seem to bother Simon as he joked back: "I was waiting for that."
And when Dermot spoke to Simon again later on in the show, he joked: "After the week he had, he’s really just wishing that he lived in a bungalow."
However, the stairs jokes soon wore thin for Simon, who asked Dermot: "Is there going to be a joke like this everytime?"
‘The X Factor’ returns to ITV on Sunday (05.11.17) when the Overs will take on the Girls to stay in the competition.
