Nicki Minaj brands hip-hop industry sexist

Nicki Minaj claims the hip-hop industry is a sexist place for women to work.
The ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker has taken to Twitter to vent her frustrations after receiving a compliment from rapper Russ, who said she does not get the respect she deserves as an artist.
Nicki wrote: "In any field, women must work TWICE as hard to even get HALF the respect her male counterparts get. When does this stop? (sic)"
She added, sarcastically: "The greats collaborated w/Drake, Kendrick & Jcole b/c they’re dope MC’s. They collab’d w/nicki cuz someone pulled a gun to their heads … (sic)"
Nicki thanked ‘What They Want’ rapper Russ after he tweeted: "People needa put more respect on @NICKIMINAJ name (sic)"
She also posted a tweet by Kendrick Lamar from 2010 about how men hate her music.
Nicki wrote: "This is so telling. And scary. I’d have to wear some baggy pants n timbs for men to openly give props."
The 34-year-old ‘Bang Bang’ hitmaker has won numerous Billboard, BET, MTV and American Music Awards over the course of her career.
Nicki has also been nominated for 10 Grammy awards, but she is still to win one of the coveted gongs.
Despite this, Nicki recently claimed to have been a pioneer for female rap acts and argued she was responsible for "reintroducing" the idea to popular culture.
She said: "There wasn’t a big female rap presence right before I got in. So, my role was really reintroducing the female rapper to pop culture."
